Carara is one of Costa Rica’s most fascinating wildlife destinations because it lies within a unique transition zone between tropical dry forest and tropical rainforest.
This ecological meeting point creates an exceptional environment where species from different habitats live side by side.
During your walk, depending on the season, weather, and wildlife activity, you may have the opportunity to observe:
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed — and that is part of the adventure. Every walk through Carara is different.
Sometimes the forest reveals its most spectacular wildlife immediately. Other times, the experience is about slowing down, listening, looking carefully, and discovering the smaller details that most visitors might miss.
This is not simply a walk through the park.
It is an opportunity to connect with the forest.
Your guide will share knowledge about the animals, plants, trees, ecosystems, and natural history of Carara while helping you understand the relationships between the different species that live here.
We encourage questions and conversation throughout the walk, making the experience personal, relaxed, and interactive.
The pace can be adapted to your interests and physical comfort, allowing you to enjoy the forest without feeling rushed.
